Keeping Draughts at Bay in the Historic Old Mill
historic mill
conservation area and arch windows
draughts in winter
bespoke, removable secondary glazing, slimline unit
Despite being stunning to look at, the original metal-framed windows in the Historic Old Mill were far from ideal in winter. Situated in a conservation area, there are strict rules and regulations governing changes to this beautiful old building.
Wanting to improve comfort without sacrificing their original windows, the owners decided on secondary glazing. But with six out of eight windows being of non-standard sizes and featuring arched tops, it proved difficult to find a suitable supplier, until a local glazer recommended Storm.
The sleek black frames of our magnetic glazing units complement the historic industrial look of the exposed brickwork and beams inside the mill perfectly. The slimline units are virtually invisible, maintaining the original character of the building.
